Fieldglass buy could inspire other suitors in VMS space

SAP AG's recent acquisition of Fieldglass Inc. opens the door for more deals in the vendor management system space, especially when it comes to private equity-backed IQNavigator Inc., the second-largest cloud-based VMS player that manages temporary labor.

"This is recognition of a future evolution about how companies choose to manage their workforce," said Bryan Peña, an analyst at Crain Communications Inc. global research firm, Staffing Industry Analysts, referring to SAP's March 26 acquisition of Fieldglass. "It's a huge opportunity for companies like Fieldglass ... It's definitely a rapidly growing space and there's a tremendous amount of room for consolidation."
