Oracle And SAP Find Common Ground Supporting RetailROI

etail is an industry that touches every consumer’s life, yet to those who operate or serve it, it’s actually a pretty small community.  It’s also a fiercely contested space, and it’s rare to see its technology providers rallying together around a specific cause.  There are a few exceptions though, and last week, we celebrated one of the more notable – the fifth anniversary of The Retail Orphan Initiative (Retail ROI) – a charity supported from its birth by tech giants like Oracle ORCL +0.54%, SAP , Epicor, Intel INTC -0.29%, and Tyco.  The equally competitive technology analyst space has also rallied round the cause.  Every technology analyst firm, from Gartner to my own (RSR Research) has been active from the beginning in supporting the initiative.
