One of the elephants in the room when it comes to legacy technology vendors is just how reliant they are on maintenance contracts to fill out their revenue. While every enterprise under the sun moans about the seemingly exorbitant maintenance fees they pay legacy vendors, they have no real option – in order to support and maintain the efficacy of their existing technology stack they’re beholden to their technology vendors.
