What is your background? Education, Experience, etc.
Why have you selected SD?
As an end user, you will not gain the experience required to configure the SD module, unless someone within a company is willing to teach you.
I am currently learning on my own--books, Youtube videos, IDES sanbox. It is very challenging even for someone like me who has been an end user for the past 9 years in various modules: Material Management (MM), Financial Accounting (FI), and SD.
There is a fairly good book on this subject by Glynn Williams: Implementing SAP ERP Sales and Distribution. The book has a lot of useful information; however, it will take more than a book to implement the module. I would also suggest getting access to an IDES sanbox to practice and follow the examples offered in the book.
