In the hussle of the holiday season there were good blog posts and SAP product releases that could have been missed.  Here is an update of some of the interesting stories.

Business Trends:

  • Doctors and nurses will be seen in Google Glasses. Medical professionals can treat patients hands-free, while seeing the patients’ medical history instantly on the glasses.  Patient data is available via SAP HANA Enterprise Cloud.
  • Irfan Khan, head of Big Data at SAP gives a “big data” view of major events that happened 2013.  For example, through the analysis of  data people received the aid they needed after Typhoon Haiyan hit the Philippines.  And how technology aided in the investigation of the Boston Marathon bombing.

Product Updates:

  • SAP HANA Cloud Portal was launched in December 2013.  With the portal customers can build mobile-ready business sites and integrate them with either SuccessFactors (employee Central & Jam), SAP Cloud for Customer or use data coming from an SAP on-premise solution. The portal runs on top of the SAP HANA Cloud Platform.
